Dear
Club and District Officers
INVITATION TO CONFERENCE
District
Governor Chris Pretorius and DG-Ann Enlim Pretorius, supported by the Rotary Club
of Pretoria Silverton, wish to invite and encourage you to attend the 2007 District
Conference to be held at the CSIR International Convention Centre in Pretoria
from Thursday 24 to Saturday 26 May 2007.
Registration. Enclosed with this letter are registration forms. Please
distribute these among members of your Club and Rotary colleagues, and assist
us in promoting the conference. The registration form has also been e-mailed to
you to use if additional copies are needed. We would appreciate it if the registration
forms, with payment, could be returned before 30 April so as to facilitate final
planning. Details regarding submission of the completed form and methods of payment
appear on page 3 of the registration form.
Programme.
An outline of the programme is included on page 4 of the form. The Anns' Conference
takes place in parallel on the Saturday morning.
Accommodation.
Also on page 4 of the form are PP Bebe du Raan's suggestions for hotels, B & B's,
lodges and guesthouses, to assist delegates in arranging their accommodation.
Please feel free to contact her at 0824921973 if you have any questions or would
like a brochure sent to you by a particular place offered.
Talent
Festival. Entertainment on the Friday evening will be in the form of a talent
festival. Each Club (a group of Rotarians and Anns or an individual) is invited
to present a 3 to 5-minute item, which may be a skit, singing, dancing, miming,
or whatever, in appropriate costumes. A CD and tape player will be available for
your accompanying music if required. The emphasis should be on fun. The Convener
of the talent festival is PE Dee Morris 083 256 7380, who will be happy to answer
any questions which you may have. Please let her know whether your club will be
taking part.
Sporting
Programme. The Convener of the sporting programme on Thursday 24 May is PP
Tony Godrich. Please contact him at 082 490 1438 if you are interested in taking
part in the Bowls or Golf programme or if you have any questions. Unfortunately
we are unable to offer sporting events on the Saturday afternoon, as all sporting
venues are booked out for their normal events.
Trophies.
Various trophies are to be awarded during the conference. Some of these are still
held by the persons who were awarded them at the 2006 Conference in Maputo. In
order to give us time to engrave and clean the trophies for presentation, please
return any floating trophies that you or your Club may have to the District Trophy
Officer, PP Dawie de Villiers, or phone PP George Dehlen at 082 492 1806 to arrange
for delivery / collection.
Presentations.
Presentations at the conference should preferably be by means of a digital projector
(which will be provided by the Conference Centre), preferably in Power Point format.
Persons or teams who are scheduled to make presentations to the Conference are
requested to contact the audio-visual officer, PP Derek Stedall, on 082 411 3692
or e-mail derekstedall@icon.co.za as soon as possible.
Displays.
Display boards and tables will be available in the foyer of the Conference Centre
for use by Clubs or District Teams who wish to mount displays. Power will be provided
for those Clubs wishing to use a computer or projector as part of their display.
In order to permit us to arrange for the necessary number of boards and tables,
please inform PP George Dehlen at 082 492 1806 if you are planning to mount a
display.
