LAUNCH BONA TSELA MINI TRAFFIC CENTRE, LETABA ROTARY CLUB


The Interacters took great care to support the young learners on the cycles. For most of them it was the
first time that they had the privilege to ride a bicycle.

The Wenatchee NORTH Rotary Club in D5060 USA embarked on a partnership with their International Project, together with the Letaba Rotary Club D9250 in Tzaneen.

The Department of Transport was responsible for a Mini Traffic Training Centre in the Maake Village together with the Traffic Department of the Greater Tzaneen Municipality and the Letaba FET College. To make this Training Centre effective they needed small Cycles that could be used by Foundation Phase learners.



The Letaba Interact Club from Snt George College assisted the young learners from the Sepeke Primary School who attended the function and demonstrate the use of the cycle park

A Bill Board was erected to display all the names of the various stakeholders who worked together on making this another successful community project.

The Wenatchee North Rotary Club donated R20 000- towards the purchase of 40 Cycles. Gwenn van Schalkwyk who managed the project on their behalf sourced a good price from a local supplier and 40 Raleigh Cycles were bought and name plates were attached. The Letaba FET College organized a competition to name the Traffic Training Centre with schools in the community During October 2007 the month for Transport and Traffic Safety awareness programme these cycles were donated to the Maake Community.

The Letaba FET College is the custodians of these cycles and will be responsible for the maintenance on these cycles. The name for the Mini Traffic Centre was unveiled as the BONA TSELA Mini Traffic Centre. The winner of the competition received a cycle that was donated by the supplier of the cycles Boulevard Cycles.
