CLUB OF ILANGA: PETER NCHABELENG HIGH SCHOOL | | President
Katlego Magunyane and her board Peter Nchabeleng High school is situated in Seshego,
about 10 km outside Polokwane, South Africa. The principal together with the teachers
at this school are dedicated to the development of the learners. It is with
the help of the principal Mr. Setati, Mr. Mabatamela the teacher, Rotaract club
of Seshego and Rotary club of Pietersburg Capricorn that an interact club was
started in this school. Interact club of Ilanga was started on the 26th of April
2007 with a membership of 38 students. The club will be charted on the 30rd June
2007 at Bolivia lodge. The club has already nominated its board with katlego as
the first president. | Mr.
Mabatamela and the interactors | Apart from being
members of Ilange the students are also involved in other school activities. Most
of the members are drama students and three of the members are recording artists,
who have just recently released their first gospel album. Mr. Mabatamela who is
in charge of student activities will be helping to look after the club and its
activities, we are hoping to seeing him becoming a Rotarian in future. Rotaract
club of Seshego has been involved in a great way with the establishment of this
interact club. I believe it is our duty as rotaractors to help and encourage interactors.
Our future also depends on them, lets save Rotaract by developing more interact
clubs Connecta Ilanga. |
| T-SHIRTS | | If
you didn't know, now you know, the district had just introduced district T-shirts
the latest way to become a united D.9250. The three designs made by Saria
make it difficult to choose from. The samples are so beautiful that having all
of them as district T-shirts wouldn't be a bad idea; I am for all of them. Connecta

Capricorn rotary club) and other goodies. President elect Sandy Smith also came
for the celebrations. It is not how much you spend but how much time can you
give that makes the difference. Shalati kids Easter Saturday |

CLUB DE MAPUTO COMMUNITY SERVICE | |
In March 22nd, the Malhazine Powder-Magazine exploded, leaving nearly 1500 families
without a house. The Powder-Magazine is situated nearly 12 Km from Maputo City
main center. Those families lost everything; they need from a house to clothes,
from food to kitchen kits, from bags to scholar material. A part from our government
and N.G.O.'s some associations joined hands to help. | Therefore
our club decided to have an emergency project, collecting everything we could
to donate; on our quest for goods, we established contact with a Mozambican Students
Association, the MozSoc (www.mozsoc.org), they are a group of students and former
students from University Cape Town, who were most delighted to help us in this
project. We also invited Interact Club Francisco Manyanga. On April 07th (national
holiday, celebrating Mozambican Women Day), a group of 05 Rotaractors, 02 MozSoc
members and 06 Interactors, with 18 bags full packed of clothes, shoes and toys,
rode to the Calamity Operation Center to make the donation. There we were received
by the Center Director and Operation Manager, which explained us how they had
been working and what kind of help the population needed. After all the formality
and the donation, we decided that this project shouldn't end with only one donation,
so after some contacts, it is set for May, that Rotaract Clubs from Swaziland
and maybe also with MozSoc, we will donate more goods. Rotaract Club de Maputo

IN ACTION: A NEW KITCHEN FOR SHALATI DROP IN CENTRE | | Rotaract
club of Seshego had offered to help Mrs. Semenya at the drop in centre. One of
the things she needed was a room she could use to cook for her kids. She used
her own kitchen at her home which was not enough for her furniture and a large
gas stove she is using. The club has managed to erect a temporary room made of
wood and corrugated iron sheet to be used as a kitchen. What made the whole project
interesting is the way it all came together, the whole action by rotaractors.
Three simple steps: Lay out the plan of the structure you want to put up. The
most important is to have dedicated rotaractors to do the job. Work in progress,
Putting up the structure and making sure it is detailed. And there you have it.
And let the cooking begin. It is always wonderful and satisfying to help those
who are in need. Connecta RC Seshego |

ROTARIAN
FAMILY RELATION On our last issue we, Rotaract Clube de Maputo, said that
we would have a meeting with our Sponsor Club, Rotary Club de Maputo, to talk
about the problems our remaining Interact was facing. Our intervention was most
welcomed by Rotarians, more than we expected, and after an ovation in the end
of our speech, we felt that we were heading to the end of those problems. So,
we also decided to talk about our relation problems with our Rotarians. On May
04th, we had a final meeting with Rotary Club de Maputo New Generations Avenue,
among our problems we also spoke about Interact Club and that we would be glad
to work with Rotarians on the behalf of Interact. We believe that we found solutions
and we are ready to go ahead, with a new Rotarian Family Relation, ready to Share.

| MENTAL
IMPRESSION | | Introducing In the last
issue we talked about the latest edition to the news letter by President Dino.
I am happy to introduce to you Mental Impression. I hope we will be impressed.
Don't forget the theme rotary shares | | Dear
All ABOUT THE COLUMN (Mental Impression) This issue marks the first publication
of a number of publications to follow under this column "Mental Impression." As
we prepare for the Rotary year 2007-2008, it is of paramount importance that we
share information and ideas in order to strengthen not only our relationships
but also as means to diversify our knowledge. I'm pleased to learn that this year's
theme "Rotary Shares" ushers us to an era of working together as a team, not only
sharing information and ideas but responsibilities as well. | Having
"Lead The Way" its time I shared the knowledge and experiences I have acquired
in order to empower other young upcoming leaders. The primary purpose of Mental
Impression is to influence change by dissecting ideas submitted, unify efforts
and at the same time celebrating successes achieved. It seeks to provide an opportunity
to pause, acknowledge and analyze the very same issues that clubs have to deal
with, be it physical social, spiritual, financial or otherwise. STRUCTURE The
title of the column is Mental Impression as detailed above. A number of issues
shall be discussed. Issues will be mostly based on what I perceive about them
and what I think is the best possible approach to deal with that particular issue:
With that said watch out for the following issues which is the next attraction:
District Project,District Trophies In this very same column I shall be
giving you information on the latest events taking place in Swaziland as far as
Rotary and all its programs is concerned. Mental impression: Dino Mznrotaract@Yahoo.Com

Finally Rotar-conector is doing just what it was set out to do, connecting friends.
Rotaract clubs from Swaziland and Eduardo Mondlane 24 February 2007 Don't
you just love it when old and new friends come together? Yet another good friend
of mine who just recently earned her self a place in the friends of Rotaract,
Maggie Mogashwa made a valid point, that the people who help rotaractors like
her , should also be featured on Rotar-connector. Your suggestion is looked into
and you will know about it soon. Connecta friends of Rotaract.

MEMBER
ATTRACTION STRATEGIES We need to expand membership through publicity;
we need to involve the media more in our activities i.e., the public should be
made aware of what Rotaract, Interact, and Rotary in general is all about. We
can achieve this by publicizing our events and the reasons behind. Fellowship
events are also equally important e.g. camps, dinners, parties etc. | Rotaractors
from Mozambique and Swaziland | FUNDING
Clubs always find it difficult to carry out project because of the lack of
funds. Even the administration of the club is sometimes difficult because there
is no more to finance the club activities. This also leads to the exodus of members
because of inactivity in as far as the club is concerned. Finally the rotary
year is coming to an end and we need to prepare our selves for the conference.
Presidents are reminded to make their club reports to the D.R.R; guys | STRATEGIES
President of the Rotaract club of Manzini has initiated a fund where all clubs
shall contribute towards its existence. This fund will be for the sole benefit
of all member clubs. This will be a central pool for clubs and it seeks to promote
fellowship amongst the clubs, promote working together in projects, provide zero-interest
loans to clubs that want to fund-raise. A draft policy on how the fund is going
to operate has been sent to all the clubs to deliberate on. Connecta

| Finally
we have trophies again, thanks to all the clubs who brought trophies to the last
president's meeting, working together as a district, yep we did it again. To all
the prospective winners, the trophies are still called floating trophies. |
